RALEIGH -- Janice Elizabeth Stafford, 60, died Wednes-day at Rex Health-care.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Presby-terian Church, 120 W. Hargett St., Raleigh, N.C. 27601. A private family burial will follow the service at Epson Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. today at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, N.C. 27609, and other times at the home of Ann Winn, 3107 East Thollie Green Road, Stem.
Janice was born in Durham to John Alvin Stafford and Edith Ann Pierce Winn. She was a graduate of Goldsboro High School and Vance Granville Community College. Janice was employed with the NCDOT in the Planning and Environmental Unit. Prior to her work with NCDOT, she worked in the environmental research industry for over 20 years as a research analyst for various companies associated with the EPA. Janice will always be remembered for her spirit and she lived by Janice Joplin's motto "Don't compromise yourself; you are all you've got." She was a person who lived what she believed and was full of love and devotion for her family and showed generosity towards others. Janice had a strong faith and a love of God.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Alvin Stafford; stepfather, James Travis Winn; and brother, Phillip Stafford.
Janice is survived by her son, Jonathan James Wiley of Raleigh; daughter, Judi Griffin (David) of Charlotte; mother, Edith Ann Pierce Winn; sister, Joyce Miles (Doug) of Raleigh; brothers, John Stafford (Michelle) of Goldsboro; Robert Bristow (Joanne) of Creedmoor; and Travis Winn (Christine) of Hickory; three grandchildren, Jay Wiley; Logan Wiley; and Chandler Pearce; one great-grandchild, Gracie Wiley.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her honor to the Wake County Public Library.
