Joseph Irdell Peacock, 74, passed away suddenly on Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

Joe was born in Greene County Feb. 3, 1936, to the late Tryphon D. Peacock and Betty Lillian Cannon Peacock. He was a mechanic and retired from Allen and Company. Joe had also worked for many years with T.A. Loving Company and with his brother at Peacock City Service in Goldsboro. He was a member of United In Christ Church.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park with the Rev. Ira Williford and the Rev. Travis Smith officiating.

Joe is survived by his wife, Pauline Peacock; his step-children, Joyce Brock, Bruce Turnage, Rayford Turnage and Paulette Turnage; his sister, Dorothy Sutton of Goldsboro; his brother, David Peacock and wife, Emily, of Goldsboro; his foster sister, Carolyn Wayne Wadford and husband, Emmett, of Cary; his sister-in-law, Sandra Peacock of LaGrange; his brother-in-law, Billy Smith of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Bettie P. Smith; and his brothers, R.D. Peacock and Bobby Peacock.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
