URSULA S. SMYK

Ursula Susanna Friedrich Smyk, 84, passed away on Friday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 6 p.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Tom Norris, O.S.F.S. presiding. Entombment will follow in the columbarium at the church. The family will receive friends Monday from 5 until 6 p.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church.
Ursula was born in Golgau, Germany on Sept. 24, 1925, to the late Karl Friedrich and Anna Mazarin Friedrich. She was a faithful member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church. Ursula enjoyed helping others and her work for the church. You could always find her visiting the sick or volunteering at Cherry Hospital. Ursula also enjoyed yard work and gardening, as reflected by her beautiful yard. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Ursula is survived by her husband of 65 years, William Smyk; her daughter, Elizabeth S. Brantly and husband, Dr. Philip K. Brantly, of Goldsboro; her beloved grandsons, John Brantly, David Brantly and wife, Sheila, and Bobby Brantly; and her sister, Inge Kania and husband, Erich, of Germany.
Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 1000 N. Jefferson St., Goldsboro, NC 27530.
