Mother Irene Harris Thompson, 82, 200 E. Lockhaven Drive, Apt. 4F, formerly of Greene County, peacefully passed away early Sunday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Her service to God and mankind will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at L. N. Forbes Tabernacle in Wilson, with bishop J. E. Reddick officiating. Her mortal frame will be laid to rest in St. Delight Community Cemetery in Walstonburg.
She leaves to cherish her memories five daughters, Ida Monk (Harry) with whom she lived, and Emma Sauls of Goldsboro, Dorothy Coe (Lander), Corine Howard (Jeff) and Joyce Woodard (Wayne) all of Wilson; five sons, Rudolph Thompson (Denise) and Gene Autry Thompson of Stantonsburg, Ernest Thompson (Debbie) of Snow Hill and Albert Thompson (Sylvia) and John Robert Thompson (Kesha) both of Newark; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, godchildren, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 6 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries of Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends at all times at the residence, where they will also assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
