Died March 2, 2010
Doris Waters Gay, 75, passed away Tuesday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held tonight at 7 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Barry Stallings officiating. Interment will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.
A native of Wayne County, Doris was the daughter of the late Mabel Gray Pike and William Arthur Waters. Her stepfather was Jack Pike.
Doris held several public service jobs, but was most proud as a mother, grandmother and wife.
Doris is survived by her husband, Bob Gay of Belfast; her daughters, Janice Gay Bedford and husband, Phil, Linda Gay Pate and husband, Bill, and Donna Gay Potter and husband, Elliott; her grandchildren, Lindsay Pate, Robert Gay III and Jake Potter; her great-granddaughter, Hanna Gay; her best friend and sister-in-heart, Ruby Woodson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert E. Gay Jr.; her brothers, Buddy Waters and Robert Waters; and her sisters, Dorothy Avery and Helen Peterson.

The family will receive friends tonight following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home.
