MARY "PATSY" M. THOMPSON

Mary "Patsy" Mozingo Thompson, 79, died Wednesday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held tonight at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home chapel, with pastor Shirley Ward and the Rev. Gerald Garris officiating. Family members will remain to receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home, and at other times will be at the home of her son, Carl Thompson, 108 Carolina Ave. in Dudley.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Roy Paul Mozingo and Ivey Malpass Mozingo and wife of the late Lloyd Thompson.
Mrs. Thompson was a very active member of Brogden United Methodist Church, including the XYP Group at the church, singing in the choir when her health permitted and the United Methodist Women. She also enjoyed time spent with the Providence Friends United group at Providence United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Vickie Thompson of Dudley and Carroll and Jennifer Thompson of Dudley; a sister, Janet Daughtry of Pikeville; a sister-in-law, Linda Mozingo of Roanoke Rapids; five grandchildren, Karla and Darryl Fry, Brooke Thompson, Lindsay and Aaron Shields, Blake Thompson and Emily and Matthew Reaves; two great-grandchildren, Seth Thompson and Maddux Fry; and a great-grandchild expected in April, Brylie Reaves.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Roland, J.W. and Harold Mozingo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Brogden United Methodist Church, 2918 U.S. 117 in Dudley.
