DUDLEY -- John Edsel Rhodes, 66, 309 Mobile Circle, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home chapel, with pastor Dennis Pollock and the Rev. Ralph Parker officiating. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Ishmael and Thelma Carmack Rhodes.
Mr. Rhodes is survived by his wife, Nancy Evans Rhodes; a son, Jeffrey S. Rhodes of Dudley; a daughter, Susan Williams of Dudley; four brothers, Wayne Rhodes and Dan Rhodes both of Dudley, Harold Rhodes of Fayetteville and Jerry Rhodes of Bristol, Va.; seven sisters, Edna Wise of Cortland, Va., Melba Anderson of Haymarket, Va., Debbie Stafford of Kure Beach, Gloria White of Tyner, Daphne Jones of Selma, Abigail Pollock of Smithfield and Vickie Osoria of Leland; and three grandchildren, Audrey and Wyatt Williams and Miranda Rhodes.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
The family will greet friends Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service and at other times will be at the home of his son, Jeff Rhodes, 289 Mobile Circle in Dudley.
