FLOYD J. MCKEEL

Floyd Jodie McKeel, 80, passed away Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry Bostian officiating. Interment will be in Pilkington Cemetery in Pine Level with Masonic Rites.
Floyd was born in Wayne County Dec. 24, 1928, to the late Jodie McKeel and Dovie Crumpler McKeel.
He was the former chief inspector for the city of Goldsboro with more than 38 years of service.
Floyd was a member of Rosewood First Baptist Church and Goldsboro Masonic Lodge #634 A.F. & A.M. He had served as president of the North Carolina Association of Plumbing Inspectors.
Floyd served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Betty Massengill McKeel; his son, Kenneth Floyd McKeel and wife, Tracy, of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Bryce, Tanner and Addyson; his sisters, Helen Manning of Morehead City, Betty Erway of Arizona and Jo Ann Tingle of Florida; and his brother, Ralph McKeel of Goldsboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James McKeel and Billy McKeel, who was killed in Vietnam.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son, 304 Shamrock Road in Goldsboro.
