MINNIE B. HOWELL

PIKEVILLE -- Minnie Barfield Howell, 93, went to her heavenly home Saturday.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Bailey and the Rev. Barry Williamson officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pikeville Cemetery.
A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late William Henry Barfield and Lora Person and the widow of Lonnie B. Howell.
She retired as clerk for the town of Pikeville in 1981, and she was a member of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Edna Pate and husband, Frank, of Belfast; son, Bryant Howell and wife, Dianne, of Greenville; a sister-in-law, Flo Barfield of Jacksonville, Fla.; her grandchildren, Debbie Brantley and Russell of Wilson, Duane Pate and Stephanie of Goldsboro and Denna Kay Kahoe and Terry of Leland; four great-grandchildren, Brittany Bounds of Greenville, Christopher Brantley of Wilson, Kaleb Pate of Goldsboro and Megan Bailey of Goldsboro.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by her sisters, Nona Best and Sally Farmer; brothers, Alton, Bill, Henry, Jim and Bob Barfield; and a great-grandson, Shelby Rae Pate.
Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, 752 Stoney Creek Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
The family will receive friends following the funeral service Tuesday night at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church and at other times at the home of Frank and Edna Pate, 322 Hill St. in Goldsboro.
