DUDLEY -- Frazelle Cooke Lucas, 67, 302 Lorease Drive, departed this life Saturday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

Eulogistic services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First African Baptist Church, 803 Harris St. in Goldsboro, with the Rev. Dr. Louis S. Leigh Jr. officiating. Her mortal frame will be laid to rest in Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery, 2925 U.S. 117 south in Goldsboro.

Mrs. Lucas was born in Columbia, S.C., to the Late Joseph Cooke and Selena Trapp Cooke.

Mrs. Lucas was a graduate of C.A. Johnson High School in Columbia, S.C., and North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro. Her teaching career began at Norwayne School in Fremont, and she later served as a special education teacher at Cherry Hospital and O'Berry Center.

She was a member of First African Baptist Church and Epsilon Phi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughters, Kimberely Dark of Garner and Charryse (Eric) Byrd of Charlotte; one nephew; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Her husband, Al C. Lucas, preceded her in death.

A viewing will be held Tuesday at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries and Florist, 900 S. George St. in Goldsboro from 2:30 to 6 p.m.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. will begin its private ceremony Tuesday at 5 p.m.

The family will assemble at the residence of Frazelle Lucas, 302 Lorease Drive in Dudley in preparation for the funeral procession.

Although greatly appreciated, in lieu of flowers and greenery, the family requests that family and friends consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society.
