Mary Aliene Mumford, 71, passed away Sunday evening after a brief illness.
Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with Jimmie Holmes officiating.
Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Mary Wade Garris. She was a loving mother and grandmother and the devoted wife of the late John R. "Dick" Mumford for 50 years.
Mrs. Mumford is survived by her son, Rick Mumford and wife, Jeanenne, of Goldsboro; two daughters, Connie Myers of Midlothian, Va., and Pat White and husband, Ricky, of Faison; a sister, Shirley Sullivan and husband, William, of Goldsboro; and six grandchildren, Chris White, Aaron White, Patrick White, David Myers, John Myers, Danielle Thibodeau and Gabriel Mumford.
She was preceded in death her siblings, Edna Wilson, Vernon Garris, Bobby Garris and Thurston Garris.
Family members will greet friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
