SNOW HILL -- Roland David "Bud" Whitley Jr., 78, passed away Sunday at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service. Committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Snow Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Ronnie Heath and the Rev. Willard Hardison officiating.
A native of Greene County, he was born June 17, 1931, son of Roland David Whitley Sr. and Nina Kearney Whitley.
He was a retired farmer and carpenter and was a member of Fort Run Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughters, Kay Dail and husband, Charles, of Greensboro, Ga., JoAnn Letchworth of LaGrange, Rhonda Sue Carter of Pikeville, Terry McRight and husband, Steve, of Snow Hill and Debra Edwards and husband, Ray, of Goldsboro; sisters, Evelyn Williams of Wilson, Joyce Richardson of Snow Hill, Helen Kennedy of Spring Hope and Jean Rioux of Snow Hill; brothers, Raven Whitley of Kinston, Bobby Whitley of LaGrange and Douglas Whitley of Snow Hill; grandchildren, Shannon Hamm, Wendy Rouse, David Dail, Allen Merryfield, April Smith and Erica Letchworth; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Sauls Whitley; a daughter, Doris Whitley Fulghum; and a son-in-law, Roy Letchworth Jr.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service Tuesday evening and other times at the home, 127 Ginn Road in Snow Hill.
