BILL ASBILL

Gibson Harvey "Bill" Asbill, 85, died Thursday night at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Johnny Sasser officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Born in Fairview, S.C., he was the son of the late Rosco "Ross" and Isabel Wood Asbill and husband of the late Lou Bowden Asbill.
He was United States Army retired after more than 40 years of service with both the Army and Air Force. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
A member of Emmaus Baptist Church, he was a deacon, director of Sunday school and a member of the Baptist Men and the adult choir.
Mr. Asbill is survived by five sons, Harvey Ray Asbill of Nashville, Tenn., James William Asbill of Greenville, Warren David Asbill of Dudley, Ross Major Asbill of Greenville and Wyman Asbill of Lebanon, Tenn.; brothers, Stanley Asbill of Lexington, S.C., and Robert L. Asbill of West Columbia, S.C.; one sister, Callie Harmon of Gilbert, S.C.; his fiancée, Elva Norris of Dudley; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grand-
children.
Family members will greet friends Saturday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
