RUBY G. CREECH
June 17, 1924-July 14, 2009
Ruby Grady Creech, 85, passed away Tuesday at the Brian Center.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Ruby was born in Wayne County June 17, 1924, to the late Chancey Grady and Sarah Anderson Grady. She was married to the late Melvin Rudolph Creech.
Ruby had worked as a seamstress for many years having managed the Remnant Shop in Goldsboro. As a master seamstress, Ruby always helped her family by making clothes or with any need they might have. She will be missed.
Ruby was a faithful member of First Free Will Baptist Church and was also a member of the Cora Mitchell Friendly Sunday school class and Ruth Rebekah Circle.
Ruby is survived by her daughters, Sharlene Howell of Goldsboro and Melanie Skinner and husband, Johnny, of Pikeville; her son, Rodney Creech of Statesville; her grandchildren, Shawn Howell and wife, Karen, of Fremont and Timothy Howell of Goldsboro; and her great-granddaughter, Isabel Howell.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Matthew Howell; her daughter-in-law, Gale Creech; her son-in-law, Paul Howell Jr., three brothers; and three sisters.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Melanie and Johnny Skinner, 128 Crossbow Drive, Pikeville.
