LAKE LURE -- Frances Champion Haney, 68, Havnaers Point, died Friday.
Memorial services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Spencer Baptist Church, with the Rev. Billy E. Vaughn, the Rev. Bruce Caldwell and the Rev. Bill Perry officiating.
A native of Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Hall and Mary Eunice Geer Champion.
She was a retired instructor from Isothermal Community College and also taught five years at Elizabethtown High School. She was a member of Spencer Baptist Church and chairman of the scholarship committee.
She is survived by her husband, Averette Haney of the home; one son, Keith Hall Haney and wife, Joy Maxwell Haney, of Forest City; one daughter, Margaret Rose Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Phyllis Champion Plowden and husband, William, of Shelby; and two granddaughters, Olivia Joanna Haney and Sarah Rebekah Haney of Forest City.
