MOREHEAD CITY -- Essie Bell Chestnut Hayes Pulliam, 96, died Saturday at home.
The funeral will be held tonight at 6 at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Patterson officiating. The committal will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Newton Grove, with the Rev. David Willis of Mary's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Clinton officiating.
She was born Dec. 31, 1912, in Wayne County to the late John Bedford and Bettie Joyner Chestnut.
She is survived by two children.
The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home following the service.
Arrangements are being handled by Brooks Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. of Morehead City.
