FRANKLIN L. TYNDALL
Died April 18, 2009
DEEP RUN -- Franklin L. Tyndall, 78, 986 Seth Turner Road, passed away Saturday at Quinn Hospice Care Center in Kenansville.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gray Branch Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ray Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Gray Branch Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was educated in Duplin County and received his high school diploma while serving in the Air Force.
He was a tobacco farmer for six years, retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation with 31 years of service and was a poultry grower for eight years.
Before his illness, he was an active member of Gray Branch Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, building fund treasurer and on the board of trustees. He was also a member of Pleasant Hill Masonic Lodge and VFW Post 379.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hilda Stroud Tyndall; his daughter, Amy Hartsfield and husband, Robert, of Deep Run; two grandsons, Brett Hartsfield and wife, Erin, of Raleigh and Bradley Hartsfield of Wilmington; two sisters, Nettie Jean Hill and husband, Elwood, and Linda Smith and husband, Jerry, of Deep Run; a niece, Jo Ellen Sloan; nephews, Jeffrey Hill and wife, Julie, Wayne Smith and wife, Linda, and Darrell Smith; great-nieces, Jessica Smith, Carley Hill and Tylan Smith; and great-nephews, Gavin Hill, Eric Smith, and Trey Sloan and wife, Kristi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jason and Etta Tyndall.
Visitation will be held from 7 until 9 tonight at Gray Branch Free Will Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at other times at the home, 986 Seth Turner Road, Deep Run.
