DANIEL W. SMITH
Died April 19, 2009
Daniel Weaver Smith, 29, went to his heavenly home Sunday at North Carolina Memorial Hospital.
A service to celebrate Daniel's life will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1100 The First Church Road, with the Rev. Barry Stallings and the Rev. Andy Stovall officiating. Due to limited parking at Aycock Family Cemetery, the interment will be for family members only.
Daniel was the son of Billy and Susan Anderson of Pikeville and Linwood T. Smith of Micro.
He was employed with G&M Sales and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, South Eastern Reining Horse Association and Ray Pittman Hunting Club. Daniel had a love for hunting, horses and dogs.
After Daniel had a lung transplant, he testified at many churches on his love of God, which touched many lives.
In addition to his parents, Daniel is survived by his wife, Amanda Howell Smith of Goldsboro; sisters, Amy Gambill and husband, Phillip, and Marti Jones and husband, Stevie, of Pikeville; brothers, Bill Anderson and wife, Jeane, and Mike Howell and wife, Phyllis, of Pikeville; maternal grandparents, Charles "Bud" Aycock and Mary Belle Aycock of Pikeville; paternal grandmother, Jean S. Smith of Fremont; father and mother-in-law, Tim and Sue Howell of Goldsboro; and nieces and nephews, Dallas, Tate, Dakota, Elizabeth and Seth.
Daniel was preceded in death by his grandfather, Eli Smith.
The family requests memorials to be made to the Sweet Melissa Fund, c/o Becky Cicale, 101 Manning Drive, Chapel Hill, N.C. 27516. This organization assists lung transplant families.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church and other times at the home of Billy and Susan Anderson, 164-B Old Kenly Road, Pikeville.
