Johnny Matthew Best, 51, 910 Hugh St., Apt. B, was called by our Heavenly Father to his final resting place on Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Johnny was born in Wayne County on Aug. 28, 1957. He was the son of the late Golden Best and Hilda Artis Best.
He was educated in the Wayne County school system. Johnny worked several years at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Bowling Lane.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday from the Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., with pastor Timothy L. Dortch officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery, 433 Martin Luther King Parkway. A viewing will be held from 1 until 7 p.m. Friday at Hamilton Funeral Chapel. Also, a wake will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday at Hamilton Funeral Chapel with the family present to receive other family members and friends.
Johnny leaves to cherish his loving memories his sister, Miss Jessie Best; his brothers, elder Nathaniel Best and wife, Magdalene, and James Best; two sisters-in-law, eldress Magdalene Best and Barbara Best; one uncle, Mathis Best; a special friend that he loved as his daughter, Danielle Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
At other times, the family will receive friends at 910 Hugh St., Apt. B in Goldsboro.
