MARGUERITE BARNES

Mattie Marguerite Langston Barnes, 89, went to her new mansion in Heaven on Thursday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. She took her precious Lord and Savior's hand and he led her to the promise land. We know that Jesus has built a very special mansion just for her.
Ms. Barnes was born in Wayne County to the late Cullen Langston and Minnie Pike Langston. She was married to the late Hennis Duncan Barnes. Marguerite, as she was called by most of her friends will be remembered for her unconditional generosity for her family and Spring Hill Original Free Baptist Church, where she was an active member for over 60 years. She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary, taught Sunday school and was in the Joy Timers as long as her health allowed. Marguerite retired from General Electric with 24 years of service.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Spring Hill Free Will Baptist Church with pastor Dennis Pollock and pastor William Dauphinais officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Ms. Barnes is survived by her sons, Sidney Ray Barnes and wife, Joyce, of the home and George D. Barnes and wife, Frances, of Aiken, S.C.; her loving sister, Pauline Wiggins of Dudley; six grandchildren, Duncan and Laurie of Aiken, S.C., Barry and Randy of Ark., Cindy and Sharon of Goldsboro; nine great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and a very special grand-dog, Luther Barnes.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Moore and a brother, Randolph (Red) Langston.
The family would like to give special thanks to a step-granddaughter, Teressa Dauphinais, for her dedicated and faithful care for granny Barnes throughout her illness. They would also like to give special thanks to the dedicated staff and volunteers at Kitty Askins Hospice Center for their love and concern shown to her as well as her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, 27534 or Spring Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church, 2127 U.S. Hwy. 70 West, Goldsboro, 27530.
The family will receive friends Saturday at Spring Hill Free Will Baptist Church from 12:30 to 2 p.m. and other times at the home of Sidney and Joyce Barnes, 143 Short Street, Goldsboro.
