Elbert Earl (Pete) Lewis Sr., 66, 213 Marlette Drive, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be Friday at 12 p.m. at Maranatha Seventh-day Adventist Church, 212 East Oak St., with Dr. David Moore officiating. Interment will be in the Old Mill Cemetery. He served on the Goldsboro Police Department from 1965 to 1996 and as an animal control officer for Wayne County for 311/2 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Loftin Lewis, of the home; two sons, Elbert Earl Lewis, Jr., and Randy Lewis, both of Goldsboro; eight sisters, Vernell Bracey,Lue Jean Wright, Margie M. Lewis, Teresa Artis, Frances A. Wooten, and Marchell Lewis, all of Dudley, Vera Rachel Loftin of Goldsboro, and Queenie Reinhardt of Paterson, N.J.; four brothers, Amaziah Lewis, Jr., of Goldsboro, Leroy Lewis of Clayton, John Lewis of Fort Washington, Md., and Nathaniel Lewis of Paterson, N.J.; and one grandson.
