Elizabeth Miller Griffin, 83, of 109 Overbrook Road, died Sunday following a courageous battle with cancer.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Drew Clark and the Rev. Ryan Rasmussen officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.
She was born on June 20, 1923, in Ocala, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Guy Miller and Elizabeth Davis Miller and her brother, Charles Guy Miller Jr. of Ocala.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by her husband, William Henry Griffin III; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Griffin and Margaret Griffin Delbridge and husband, Matthew L. Delbridge, all of Goldsboro. In addition, she is survived by her granddaughters, Margaret Miller Delbridge and Grace Stephenson Delbridge of Goldsboro.
She grew up in Ocala and graduated from Ocala High School in 1941. She attended Bowling Green Business College in Bowling Green, Ky., where she met her husband, Bill. After serving in the Waves during World War II, she and Bill returned to Goldsboro where she lived as a homemaker and loving wife for 57 years. She was an Honorary Life member of First Presbyterian Church and a member of the Goldsboro Gardenettes Garden Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude to Mrs. Griffin's caregivers, Edna Oakley, Pat Patrick, Gail Worrells and Caprice Howard, Dr. James Atkins and his wonderful staff, and her Home, Health and Hospice caregivers.
Family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Griffins' residence, 109 Overbrook Road.
