FREMONT - David E. Yelverton, 78, died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont, conducted by the Rev. Powell Dew.
He was born in Wayne County, farmed all of his life, was a World War II veteran and attended Fremont Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Lee Garris Yelverton; three sons, Dred Yelverton and wife, Dana, of High Point, Whit Yelverton and wife, Lori, of Fredericksburg, Va., and Kent Yelverton and wife, Connie, of Wendell; grandchildren, Mitchell, Wyatt, Matthew, Phillip, Jesse, Morgan, Nicholas Yelverton; and sister, Judy Y. Scott of Goldsboro.
The family will be at home, 1979 N.C. 222 East, tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
