EVA P. WOOTEN

Eva Pate Wooten, 77, 305 S. Pine Street, Fremont, passed away Friday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital. A service to celebrate her life will be held Sunday at 5 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Evans and the Rev. Neal Wingfield officiating. A graveside ceremony with the family will be held Monday at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont with the Rev. David Hollowell officiating.
Eva Wooten was a teacher with Wayne County Public Schools for 41 years, spending many happy years at Nahunta School and Belfast Elementary. She was a member of Fremont Free Will Baptist Church. Eva was also a dedicated and long-time mall-walker at Berkeley Mall, where she had many friends.
Mrs. Wooten is survived by her son, Jamie Wooten of Asheville; her brothers, John Pate, and his wife, Dot, of Goldsboro, and Pete Pate, and his wife, Jean, of Kinston; her sisters, Irene Stafford of Pikeville, and Dorothy Kirby and her husband, Maylon, of Kenly.
She enjoyed a close extended family of Wootens and Pates, including sisters-in-law Jean Wooten and Olga Davis, and many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as special friends Nick Wilkinson and Jessie Jones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. "Punk" Wooten, and her brothers, Bruton Pate and Lloyd Pate, and her sister, Martha Pate Weaver.
The family would like to thank the nurses on the seventh floor at Wayne Memorial for their extraordinary care of Mrs. Wooten for these last three weeks.
Eva Wooten's family will receive friends immediately following the service.
