Samuel F. Gerber Jr., 49, died Wednesday.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel in Greenville. Burial will be in Vail Cemetery in Parsippany, NJ at a later date.
Mr. Gerber, a native of Parsippany, NJ, was a graduate of Randolph High School in Randolph, NJ and Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ. He worked for Barnes & Noble Booksellers for a number of years and was transferred to Greenville, NC in 1995. He opened his own store, Parker-Kennybrook Books, in 2004. He was a member of Ledgewood Baptist Church in Ledgewood, NJ and in Greenville he was active in the Magnolia Arts Council, the Uptown Greenville Association and Give 2 the Troops.
Mr. Gerber was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Frederick Gerber, Sr.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Inez D. and Clyde Steinert of Mount Olive; his brother and sister-in-law, Richard A. and Patty Gerber of Calypso, NC; his sister and brother-in-law, Karen A. and Michael D. Marcin of Mount Olive, NC; two nieces, Kristin Marcin and Jessica Gerber; two nephews, Michael S. Marcin and Jarrod Gerber; one great-niece, Emilee Marcin; one great-nephew, Michael T. Marcin; and two special friends, Tony Parker and Cathy O'Brien.
The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home immediately following the service.
