Timothy "Tim" Gregory, 48, 106 East Westwood Drive passed away Wednesday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Homegoing services will be held on at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. Pastor Gerald Hollamon and Reverend Charles Overton will officiate. The burial will be held at Wayne Memorial Park.
Tim was born in Wayne County to George Gregory of Goldsboro and the late Edna Overton Gregory Stiffler. He was a 1976 graduate of Goldsboro High School and was honorably discharged from the United States Marines. Tim was employed with Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro for the past six years and Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont. He was a Certified Crematory Operator Technician. Tim was also employed as a Correctional Officer with the North Carolina Department of Neuse Corrections for the past seven years, where he served on the PERT team. Tim was an umpire and also worked with Coach Elvin James of Goldsboro High School helping him coach football. He loved sports and was true to his high school. Tim was a past volunteer with the Rosewood Volunteer Fire Department and was a former member of Liberty Pentecostal Holiness Church.
In addition to his father, Tim is survived by his wife, Pamela Gregory; two sons, Christopher Gregory of Goldsboro and Ricky Gregory of the home; three sisters, Phyllis Godwin of Princeton, Kay Waters of Grantham and Beverly Fenech of Goldsboro; five brothers, Ronnie Gregory of Burlington, Jackie Gregory of Goldsboro, Donald Gregory of Calypso, Charlie Gregory of Fremont and Steve Gregory of Goldsboro; two step-brothers, Gary H. Littleton of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Dannie Littleton of Goldsboro; and many nieces and nephews.
Tim was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Edna Overton Stiffler and Sam Stiffler.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro and other times at his residence.
