Mary Elizabeth Herring, East Walnut Street Apartments, died Friday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital on her 68th birthday.
A graveside service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Jannis Scales officiating.
Ms. Herring was born in Wayne County Aug. 25, 1938, to the late Robert Glaspie and Olivia Bennett Glaspie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Emilio Herring.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Stevens, and husband, Gregory, of Goldsboro and Sharon Haley of Raleigh; a brother, Robert Glaspie Jr., and wife, O'tina of Goldsboro; two grandchildren, Kiari and Gregory Jr.; her lifelong friend, Fletcher Williams of Mount Olive; two nieces, Nichelle Hamilton and Laura Glaspie; and two nephews, Shoenlever Glaspie and Cianci Glaspie.
The viewing will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. with the family being present from 6 to 7 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory.
The family will receive friends at other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Gregory Stevens, 201 Goldleaf Dr., Goldsboro.
