MOUNT OLIVE -- The funeral for Lucy M. Garner, 93, of Baltimore, Md., formerly of Wayne County, will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Big Zion AME Zion Church, with the Rev. William Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the McGowan Cemetery.
Mrs. McGowan died Wednesday at her residence.
She was the daughter of the late James "Jim" and Mary Catherine McGowan Miller.
She is survived by her sons and daughters, Thelma Parks of LaGrange, Mary Catherine Garner of Mount Olive, Carolyn McNeill and Ben Garner of Baltimore, Md., and Clifton Ray Garner of Four Oaks; one sister, Sarah C. Williams of Warsaw; one brother, Curtis Lee Miller of Baltimore, Md.; 12 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren.
The viewing will be held Tuesday from noon until 1 p.m. at the church.
The family will receive friends at 100-A Johnson Court, Mount Olive.
