LYDA W. ADAMS
April 18, 1926-June 5, 2006
Lyda Winslow Adams, 80, died Monday at her home in Windermere, Fla.
A Goldsboro native, she graduated from Greensboro College with a degree in elementary education and received her master's degree in education from Florida State University. She taught school in Kissimmee and Orlando before her children were born. She later returned to teach mentally disabled children in Tildenville Elementary School for over 15 years. She was an active and long-time member of Windermere Union Church, United Church of Christ.
Mrs. Adams is survived by her children, George Edward Adams Jr., Janet Winslow Adams and Robert Carl Adams; her grandchildren, George Edward Adams III and Cassie Ilisha Adams; her great-grandchildren, George Edward Adams IV and Clay Everette Adams; her sister, Martha Ray Joyner, and brother, William Troy Winslow, both of Goldsboro.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held today at the Windermere Union Church.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Windermere Union Church, 436 Oakdale St., Windermere, Fla., 34786; or to the charity or church of the donor's choice.
