WAYMAN MONTAGUE

The Reverend Wayman L. Montague, 86 of Nahunta, Ga., died Friday afternoon at the Satilla Care Nursing Home in Waycross, Ga.
He was a Wayne County native and was the son of the late Samuel Otis and Clyde Arcellus Montague, who were from Goldsboro. He was also preceded in death by a a daughter, Beverly Jean Montague of Boca Raton, Fla.
Rev. Montague was a veteran of World War II serving in Panama and British Guiana with the 87th Bomb Squadron from May 1940 to September 1945. He was ordained as a minister in the North Carolina Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in August 1952 and pastored several churches from 1952 through 1956. In 1956, he and his family moved to Brantley County, Ga., where he taught elementary school until his retirement in 1983. After his retirement, he served four terms as president of the Brantley County Retired Teacher's Association.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Zilphia Willoughby Montague of Nahunta, Ga.; a daughter, Reba Doris Montague of Nahunta, Ga.; two sons, Leonard Dallas Montague of Wilson and Michael Graham Montague of Baton Rouge, La., and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted tonight at 7 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Princeton. The family will receive friends immediately following the service, and other times at the home Dallas Montague, 5042 Old Stantonsburg Road, Wilson. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the cemetery at Grace Baptist Church in Princeton.
