ELNORA TOWNSEND
Elnora Lewis Townsend, 72, of 109 Piedmont Place, died Sunday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, N.C.
She was the daughter of the late James Henry Lewis and Armeta Simmons Lewis.
She was married to Roscoe Townsend in September 1983, and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sisters, Bernice Lewis Artis of Fremont, N.C., and Cornelia (Frank) Smith of Goldsboro, N.C.; two brothers, Jimmy (Sandra) Williams of Pikeville, N.C.; and Clifford (Frances) Banks of Laurelton, N.Y.; one aunt, Pauline Simms of Goldsboro, N.C.; six nieces, Ollie Gray Lewis, Monica Lewis, Veronica Lewis, Evelyn (Steve) Ellis, Mercedes Artis and Jackie Faulk; seven nephews, Be´Olive (Barenda) Lewis, Chester Lee Lewis Jr., Shawn (Brenda) Lewis, Reginald Lewis, Sedrick Faulk, Dewight (Alphonise) Artis, and Michael (Rosetta) Artis; 12 great-nieces, 10 great-nephews, 12 great-great-nieces and 5 great-great-nephews; two sisters-in-law, Annie Faye Lewis of Fremont, N.C., and Lila Lewis of Fremont, N.C., and a host of relatives and many friends, including two special friends, Velma Smith of Goldsboro, N.C., and Evelyn Jefferson, also of Goldsboro, N.C.
She was a loving and devoted sister, aunt and friend.
She was a domestic worker for the Hooks Family (Mary Jo, Betsy) for many years.
She united with the Hooks Grove Missionary Baptist Church in 1985. She served as Superintendent of Sunday School, Choir Member, Financial Secretary, as a Hospitality Committee Member, and Fourth Vice President of the Wayne County Missionary Union. She was truly a dedicated and committed member of her church.

A homegoing service will be held Friday, May 12, at noon at Hooks Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
The wake will be held Thursday from 7 until 8 p.m. at Rhodes Funeral Home on S. Slocumb Street, Goldsboro.
