CARMEN BRADFORD
Carmen Ingrid Bradford died Sunday, April 30, 2006, after a lingering illness.
She was born in Ludwigsburg, Germany, in 1929 to Emmy and Carl Knauss. Carmen was a ballerina with the Stuttgart Opera when she met her future husband, Paul Bradford, who was stationed in Frankfurt with the United States Armed Forces.
Following years of travel with the military, they settled in Goldsboro where he was a clinical psychologist and she worked as an insurance representative. They were married 52 years when Paul preceded her in death in 2004.
Carmen is survived by her daughters, Karin Parker, of Atkinson; and Cathryn B. Hayes, of Asheville; her granddaughter, Heather Michelle Hayes of Asheville, who all loved her very much, and a nephew, Klaus Wallerer of Germany.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Yancey County, North Carolina, where she will rejoin her late husband.
May her soul rest in peace.
"The days, the months, the years have passed, like the ocean with its gentle and sometimes stormy path; who knows when our ship will make that final journey and peace at last." --Carmen
