Judy McCandless Strickland, 71, of 104 West Ham St., Pikeville, died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held by the graveside on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Pikeville Cemetery, with the Rev. Bryan Huffman and the Rev. Mack McMillan officiating.
Mrs. Strickland was born in Wayne County to the late Guy and Nona Mae Best McCandless. She retired as an auditor at Wachovia Bank, where she was employed for 37 years. She was the chief judge of Pikeville precinct for the board of elections and was a volunteer with the Wayne County Meals on Wheels. She was also a substitute teacher with the Wayne County Schools and was a member of St. Joseph United Methodist Church, where she served in many capacities.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon Strickland; two special cousins, David "Bo" Barfield and his wife, Janet, of Goldsboro and Bill Barfield and his wife, Peggy, of Monroe, and numerous other cousins.
Although flowers are welcome, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph United Methodist Church Parsonage Fund, P. O. Box 43, Pikeville, N.C., 27863.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 until 8 p.m. Seymour Funeral Home.
