BILL VANDERBURG

MEBANE -- William Lee "Bill" Vanderburg, 68, of 1833 Allen Jarrett Drive, died Tuesday, March 21, at the University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill.
A graduate of Goldsboro High School, Mr. Vanderburg graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy and was a former pharmacist with Andrews Drug in Burlington and Eckerd Drug at Cum-Park Plaza. He was a former flight instructor at Causey Aviation in Liberty and retired as chief pilot of training at Medical Air Operations of AHEC at UNC-Chapel Hill, where he also served as an airframe and powerplant mechanic and held an inspection authorization license. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Durham Pistol and Rifle Club. He also was a member of Haw River United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher in the Forever Young Adult Class and served on the finance committee and administrative board.
Mr. Vanderburg was preceded in death by his father, G.W. Vanderburg, and his mother and stepfather, Mary and J.W. Lynch
Survivors include his wife, Carol McBride Vanderburg; a daughter, Lynn Trace of Graham; a son, Randy Vanderburg of Graham; his brother, Richard J. "Dick" Lynch of Raleigh; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Haw River United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jeanne Neal officiated.
