VIRGINIA F. HAYES

Virginia F. Hayes, 89, of 1405 E. Elm St., died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Hayes was the daughter of the late Thomas Leroy Hayes and Sarah Casey Hayes and the sister of the late Master Gunnery Sgt. Edwin L. Hayes. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by H. Weil and Brothers for 25 years and Weil Incorporated for four years. She volunteered at Wayne Memorial Hospital for several years and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Martha Hayes of Virginia Beach, Va.,; her nieces, Deborah Kay and husband, Bill, of Portsmouth, Va., and Rebecca Owen and husband, Steve, of Virginia Beach; one nephew, Mark Hayes, and his companion, Karen Mayne, of Norfolk, Va.; and three great-nieces, Jennifer Kay, Megan Kay, Lyndsay Owen; and one great-nephew, James Hayes.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Willow Dale Cemetery with Rev. Thurman Horney officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C., 27834; or to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut Street, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service on Saturday afternoon.
