PIKEVILLE -- Genevieve Sasser Davis, 79, of 106 South Washington St., died Wednesday at the Brian Center of Goldsboro.
The funeral will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, where she was a member. Dr. Don Sauls will officiate. Interment will be at Hastings Cemetery on Oakland Church Road.
Mrs. Davis was born in Wayne County to the late Charlie and Irene Fail Sasser. She retired from the North Carolina Public School System, having been employed at Charles B. Aycock High School.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne Davis and wife, June, of Carrollton, Ohio, and Leon Davis and wife, Willette, of Pikeville; one sister, Jenettie Raines of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Mindy Domer and husband, Brian, of Carrollton, Ohio; Amy Harrison and husband, Doug, of Goldsboro; Jeremy Davis and wife, Tori, of Pikeville; and Ashley Davis of Pikeville ;and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Davis, and a sister, Virginia Briscoe.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at the Pikeville PFWB Church, and other times at the residence.
Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont is serving the family.
