DOROTHY SALEM
Died March 2, 2006
Dorothy Spears Salem, 76, of New Bern, died Thursday.
A native of Goldsboro, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Ruby Starling Spears, and was a graduate of the class of 1947 from Goldsboro High School.
She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, the Trent Woods Garden Club, and was the treasurer of the Country Club Townes Home Owners Association. She was retired from 30 years of service with Carolina Telephone & Telegraph, which is now Sprint.
A funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at Saint Paul Catholic Church. Monsignor James R. Jones will officiate. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Cemetery. A reception will be held immediately following the service at the Saint Paul Family Life Center.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Albert G. Salem of New Bern; one son, Tony Salem and wife, Tresie of New Bern; one brother, Robert Spears and wife, Marie of Kinston; one sister, Barbara Enright and husband, George of Mesa, Ariz.; one granddaughter, Kristy Willeford and husband, Jeff of Wilmington; one grandson, Casey Salem of Wilmington; one great-grandson, Anthony E. Willeford of Wilmington; an aunt, Elizabeth Smith of Kinston; a sister-in-law, Yvonne Powers of New Bern.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7:00 until 8:30 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Paul Catholic Church building fund, 3005 Country Club Road, New Bern, N.C., 28562.
