STANTONSBURG -- Marvin Justice Taylor, 72, died Tuesday.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Joyner's Funeral Home in Wilson. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Stantonsburg Cemetery. The Rev. Phillip Wood will officiate at both services.
Mr. Taylor was stationed in Germany while serving with the United States Army, and was employed for 45 years with S.T. Wooten Construction Company of Wilson.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy Scott Taylor; two daughters, Teresa T. Joyner, and her husband, Brad, of Wilson and Dr. Cheryl T. Carraway, and her husband, the Honorable Lonnie Carraway of Walstonburg; one son, Mikel Jay Taylor of Snow Hill; three sisters, Marie Lord, and her husband, Ruben, of Greenville, Clara Langley and her husband, Edbert, of Fountain and Gail Mercer of Kenly; five grandchildren; Greg Stallings, Kevin Stallings, Whitney Carraway, Taylor Carraway and Layne Carraway; and four great-grandchildren, Dylan, Brittany, Emily and Lexi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Clara Taylor; four brothers, Paul Jr., Ray, Joseph and Donnie Taylor; and a sister, Janet Walston.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service on Thursday night, and other times at 7170 Hwy 58 N., Stantonsburg.
