GEORGE HOKE JR.
George W. Hoke Jr., 72, of 200 S. Berkeley Blvd., died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Hoke was born in Donaldson, Pennsylvania, on April 8, 1933, to the late George W. Hoke Sr. and Florence May Horner Hoke. He retired from the United States Air Force in 1972 with the rank of Master Sergeant. Following his military discharge, he converted his hobby of coin collecting to a full time business. Hoke's Coin Stamp and Clock Shop has been in business for 30 years. He obtained a Watch Makers license from Wayne Community College.
Mr. Hoke was a very active member of Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church for 41 years. He held various positions including treasurer, head usher, and Sunday School Superintendent. Mr. Hoke was a member of the American Legion, Wayne Masonic Lodge #112 A.F. & A.M., Goldsboro York Rite Bodies, Sudan Shriners, Wayne Shrine Club, Goldsboro Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #54, and the Goldsboro Coin Club. He was an honorary member of Goldsboro Masonic Lodge #634 A.F. & A.M.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church. The Rev. Glenn Everett will officiate. Masonic Rites will follow the service.
Mr. Hoke is survived by his wife, Jean Miller Hoke; his daughters, Debra Baum and husband, Tim, of Newport News, Va., Barbara Cummins of Las Vegas, Nev., and Darlene Robinson of Goldsboro; two sons, Steven Hoke and wife, Helen, of Dayton, Ohio, and Leonard Hoke and wife, Teressa, of Goldsboro; three sisters, Mary Bretzius of Tremont, Pa.; Ruby Thisson of Pine Grove, Pa.; and JoAnn Clark of Mount Pocono, Pa; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Marvin L. Hoke.

The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service at Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church. At other times, they will be at his house.
