Odie Belle Jones Best died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Charles Howard will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
A Wayne County native, she was the youngest of seven children born to the late Harvey and Addie Jones and was the widow of Arthur Best. She was employed for many years as a cook with Wayne County Public Schools and was a member of St. Delight United Holy Church.
She is survived by one son, Bruton Earl Jones of Killeen, Texas; five grandchildren, Bruton Jr. of Capistrano Beach, Calif., Ambrose of Austin, Texas, Lamont of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Constance Perez and Victoria Jones of Austin, Texas; eight great-grandchildren; her goddaughter, Sandra Washington of Washington, D.C.; devoted cousins, Carolyn Williams and Margaret Davis; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
The viewing hours will be from 3 until 8 today at Hamilton Funeral Chapel and the wake will be held there from 7 until 8 tonight.
