WILSON -- The funeral for Willard Melvin Cooper, 80, will be held today at 2 p.m. at Wilson Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Bishop Robert Gorham will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
Mr. Cooper was a native of Wayne County. His parents were the late James and Alberta Artis Cooper. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and was retired from the New York City Transit Authority.
He is survived by one brother, George Cooper of Wilson; and two sisters, Marilyn Kent of Goldsboro and Lillie C. Cooper of Wilson.
Hamilton Funeral Chapel in Wilson is serving the family.
