John Thomas "Johnny" Ellis Sr., 56, of 9207 Upper Black Creek Church Road, Kenly, died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Coley Funeral Home. The Rev. Tony Medlin will officiate. Burial will be in Upper Black Creek Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah B. Ellis; two daughters, Loretta E. Moreira of Kenly and Wendy E. Hart of Lucama; two sons, Robert Dewayne Ellis of Stantonsburg and John Thomas Ellis Jr. of Pikeville; two sisters, Brenda E. Dunn of Stantonsburg and Martha E. Edmundson of Farmville; two brothers, Raymond Earl Ellis of Lucama and George Ellis of Stantonsburg; and 11 grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. on Wednesday at Coley Funeral Home in Kenly.
