Her life centered on the family and many weekends were enjoyed with backyard barbeques, vacations camping at the beach, playing bridge with friends and fishing on her and Jim's boat off Harker's Island. After Jim's death in 1993, she moved to Denver to live with her daughter's family. She was soon diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Although mother's memory slowly departed over the years, she continued to enjoy music and dancing.

While living in Denver, mother attended Denver Baptist Church and had her faith nurtured by her friends there and her supportive son-in-law, Ron Borders. She resided at Concord Place's Discovery Program for the last four years. The family wishes to thank the many dedicated care givers who became our extended family and who mom often told "I love you"

A celebration of life will be held on January 21 at 4 p.m. at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Goldsboro. Pastor Jim Whitfield will officiate. The family will gather with friends in the sanctuary following the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to your local Alzheimer's Association. Also please find time to visit the many seniors residing in assisted living and nursing homes who find get joy from a simple visit, letting them know that someone still cares.
