Harry Smith Dize, 76, of 128 Nealy Drive, died Wednesday at his residence.
A graveside funeral with military honors will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park. The Rev. Elwood Lee will conduct the service.
Mr. Dize was born in Crisfield, Md., and was the son of the late Sherman and Novella Davis Dize. He retired from the United States Army with 22 years of service and was a member of the Retired Military Alliance. He served during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the 1st Signal Brigade in Vietnam. He was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal in Japan, the Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter and Expert Marksman medals, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Service Medal. He retired from Waukesha Electric after 18 years of employment.
Survivors include his wife, Eugenia C. Dize; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin L. and Gail Dize of Sedelia, Colo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Vonnie D. and Keith Capps of Grantham; a sister, Wanda McNamara of Dundalk, Md.; three grandchildren, Patricia Collins and husband, Vince, of Fort Collins, Colo., and Joseph Capps and Bryan Capps, both of Grantham.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, and at other times will be at the home of Vonnie Capps, 2926 Old Grantham Road.
