PATRICIA KORNEGAY

Patricia Coor Kornegay, 59, of Goldsboro died Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
Patricia was born in Wayne County and was a member of Victory Free Will Baptist Church.
She was employed with R.G. Barry of Goldsboro for 30 years as payroll clerk and later, prior to retiring, was secretary to the plant manager.
Upon retirement she served in many roles at Victory Free Will Baptist Church, including working with the youth department and as church secretary for seven years. Patricia was a former member of the American Business Women's Association, where she held various offices and was selected as Woman of the Year.
She enjoyed many crafts and taught crochet at Wayne Community College.
Patricia graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1967 and was a graduate of Wayne Community College.
Surviving is her loving husband of 37 years, Jerry L. Kornegay; one son, Patrick Kornegay; her parents, Ottiwell and Ethel Coor; two brothers, Tony and his wife, Anne, of Fuquay-Varina and Thomas Allan and his wife, Tracy, of Grantham; brothers-in-law, Bobby Rex and wife, Linda, of Rosewood and Billy Rex and wife, Donna, of Grantham; six nephews, two nieces, 10 great-nephews and great-nieces.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. The Reverends George C. Lee, Randy Graham, and Dr. Rick Caison will officiate. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 7 until 9 p.m. on Saturday at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, and other times at the home.
