Dexter Wayne Southerland, 46, of 125 Ward Drive, Warsaw, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held Thursday night at 7 in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive. Committal and burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. The Rev. George Tucker, the Rev. Jerry Wayne Ezzell, and the Rev. J. Elwood Oliver will conduct the services.
Mr. Southerland was employed as a millwright technician prior to becoming disabled.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Hare Southerland; a daughter, Natalie Dionne Southerland of Greenville; two sisters, Winifred S. Bell and Elizabeth S. "Punk" Knowles, both of Mount Olive; four brothers, Wayland Southerland and Freddie Southerland, both of Mount Olive, Gregory Southerland of Kenansville, and Shelton Southerland of Seven Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Norman Southerland and Pennie Summerlin Southerland; two sisters, Sandra S. Taylor and Norma Jean S. Blaylock; and two brothers, Eddie Nelson Southerland and Lawrence Jason Southerland.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service on Thursday night, and at other times will gather at the home of Wayland Southerland, 645 Bennett's Bridge Road, Mount Olive.
