RUTH W. HILL
GOLDSBORO -- Ruth Woodard Hill, of 1694 Rosewood Road, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 12.
She was the beloved wife of the late James "Ed" Hill for 58 years. She was the loving mother of 13 children, grandmother to 30 grandchildren, and great-grandmother to 39 great-grandchildren, which were her source of pride and joy.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Herbert Hartley, Carol and Steve Gerencser, Donna and Buddy Keen and Susan Hill, all of the Rosewood community, Linda and Karl Morris of Pikeville; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Carol Hill, Harold and Judy Hill, Ronnie and Vickie Hill, Max and Pam Hill, Olin and Marion Hill, Ricky and Cindy Hill, all of the Rosewood community, Kent Hill of Duplin County, and Shari Robinson of Princeton; and son-in-law, Ray Capps of the Rosewood community.
She was a faithful member of Antioch Presbyterian Church. She loved her church and church family, influencing everyone she touched by her humbleness and grace. She always had a kind word and warm smile.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter Faye Capps; two great-grandchildren; Cody Hill and Sydney Capps; her parents; Charlie and Vera Woodard, and 5 brothers and 5 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, November 15, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. J. Lewis Baker and Dr. Al Herrington officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 until 9 p.m., at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, and at other times at the home.
Although flowers are welcome, the family request that memorial gifts be directed to Antioch Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 2306 Smithfield Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530
