ALBERTSON -- Adolph "Bud" Howard Jr., 87, of 484 Outlaws Bridge Road, died Friday at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at 3 in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home in LaGrange. The Rev. Todd Sutton officiated. Interment was at 11 a.m. today at Oak Ridge Memorial Park, Pink Hill.

Mr. Howard was born in Lenoir County to the late Adolph Howard Sr. and Mildred Smith Howard. A retired carpenter and farmer, he served with the US Army during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 379. He also was a member the 40&8, an organization for members of the American Legion who have shown exemplary service and served during Congressionally recognized periods of war time.

Mr. Howard is survived by his wife, Carrie Outlaw Howard; two stepchildren, Ronda Outlaw of Greensboro and Ronnie Outlaw of Goldsboro; two sisters, Marguerite Hales of LaGrange and Dorothy Grady and husband, J. David Grady Sr., of Goldsboro; a step-grandchild, Cameron O. Weaver and husband, Adam; and two step-great-grandchildren, Tagan and Ryleigh.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maggie Stroud Howard.

The family received friends Sunday following the service, and at other times at the residence.
