LENARD E. SMITH

LAGRANGE -- Lenard Earl Smith, 93, of 5024 Fields Loop Road, died Tuesday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Brad Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born in Wayne County to the late Heber and Lillian Ellis Smith and was the widower of Bliss Perry Smith. He was a lifetime farmer and a member of LaGrange First Free Will Baptist Church.
Mr. Smith is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Geraldine and J.B. Dawson of Kinston, Faye and Ed Craig of Raleigh and Candice and Tommy Heath of LaGrange; two sons and their wives, Hardy and Lois Smith of LaGrange and Lynwood Earl and Barbara Smith of LaGrange; four brothers, Preston Smith of LaGrange, Alphas Smith of Goldsboro, Bennie Smith of Virginia and Heber Smith Jr. of Virginia; three sisters, Beulah Roberts of Goldsboro, Evelyn McMillarn of Greenville and Frances Rouse of Snow Hill; and seven grandchildren, Bob Dawson and wife, Laura, of Kinston, Mark Dawson and wife, Monica, of Orlando, Fla., Allison Wood and husband, Tommy, of Winston-Salem, Matthew Heath of LaGrange, Dana Odom of Virginia, Deborah Butts and husband, Mike, of Kinston and Teresa Hood of LaGrange; and five great grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Heath, 5771 Harrison-Phelps Road, LaGrange.
