MOUNT OLIVE -- Durwood L. King, 81, of the Rones Chapel community, died Wednesday.
The funeral will be held Friday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home. Burial will be on Saturday morning at 11 at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. King was the son of the late Perry Durwood and Helen Hardy King. He was a retired farmer and was a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Cleone Bowden King; three sons, Richard Kent King of Ohio and Durwood Bradley King and the Rev. Randy Quinton King of Mount Olive; three daughters, Teresa K. Swinson and Sherri K. Coley of Mount Olive and Guelda K. Hunt of Fayetteville; two brothers, Delmar King of Mount Olive and Jack King of Dudley; and 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Royce King.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service on Friday night, and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rones Chapel United Methodist Church, 138 Garner Chapel Road, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.
